Port Loko to Reunite
The Port Loko Descendants Movement offshoot of an unsuccessful alumina movement in the District, has called for reunification of its descendants under the spirit of rebuilding and empowering the next generation.
The organization was borne out of the avid passion to better the lives and district of Port Loko, which happened to be the prima donna of the movement’s clarion call to descendants at home and abroad.
Chairman and Founder of the Movement, Sulaiman Idris Bangura (aka System) who doubles as the Assistant Inspector in Charge of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) under Customs and Excise Department, said his drive behind the movements message captures the socio-economic, cultural and religious diversity which are the realities amongst youths and inhabitants as well and his movement seeks to bring back the lost unity and smiles under the spirit of reunification.
The Founder said he strongly condemns the idea of spiriting politicians as key players under the movement, saying that it will be seen as a recipe to halt others with different political views from taking front role in the movement. In his words he said “I am not saying that politicians should not be involved, but they are not our target as people will assume and point fingers.”
He also cited that his movement is targeting key things, such as Promoting Peace, Unity and Development, Education, Sports, Youths Empowerment, Gender Equity and Empowerment of Women, Sanitation and Public debate and top most of all discussions on the district and national interest. He maintained that this movement is inspired by the core values of belief in the Almighty creator, respect for leadership, authority and elders, love for humanity, honesty, integrity, and discipline.
Idris Bangura stated that they will mobilize and direct resources of the movement in reaching the apex of their aims and objectives, by uniting the district ensuring effective political representations and all the goodies of the township.
