Government of Sierra Leone – State House Press Release
As you may be aware, Sierra Leone is a member of the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) which aims to promote transparency and accountability in the extractive sector (e.g. Mining, Oil/Gas, Timber, Fisheries and Marine Resources) through the verification and publication of information on payments from extractive companies and revenues from government entities including District Councils and Chiefdom Administrations.
In this regard, the Government of Sierra Leone contracted Messr Boas and Associates, an auditing firm from Ghana to undertake the 2nd EITI Reconciliation exercise of payments from extractive companies and revenues from government entities for the year 2008, 2009 and 2010. The final report has been produced for which SLEITI is charged with the responsibility to disseminate to the wider audience so as to generate debate that will engender sustainable development and poverty reduction.
In view of the foregoing, His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone will officially launch the Report on Monday 24th September 2012 at the British Council Auditorium, Tower Hill, Freetown, at 9:00 am prompt.
Stakeholders invited to the launching ceremony are encouraged to attend and on time.
