ACC hosts Egyptian counterparts in Makeni

The four man delegation was in Makeni as part of their regional tour of ACC offices to share ideas and experiences on the fight against corruption.
ACC’s Head of Professional Standards Unit Mr. Mohamed Dumbuya said the visit of the ACA delegation to Sierra Leone was an outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2010 between both institutions which called for yearly reciprocal visits.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of staff, the Regional Manager, North, Mr. Patrick Sandi noted that such interaction would go a long way to improving and enhancing Africa’s determination to stamp out corruption and the world’s vision of a corrupt free society wherein people’s socio-economic needs would be realized. He said the ACC Northern Regional Office was a showcase of the Commission’s activities in the region in the bid to achieve its mandate of taking all steps necessary for the prevention, suppression and eradication of corruption.

Head of the delegation, Mr. Hesham Farag, First Under Secretary and Assistant Chairman of ACA expressed delight over the warm reception accorded them. He noted that corruption being a global phenomenon requires international collaboration and partnership. Mr. Farag disclosed that the ACA had been in existence since 1958 and highlighted some similarities and differences with ACC. The Head of delegation thanked staff of ACC for according them the opportunity to learn more about the strategies and dynamics in the fight against corruption.

Various contributions were made by staff of the ACC and members of the ACA delegation. Other members of the ACA delegation include Islam Wagieh, Control Officer, Walid EL-Saeed, Head of Control Group and Hossam Elien Gaffar.
