Judiciary Opens Court in the East

Yesterday 19th September marked the opening of a newly constructed court building at Ross Road in the Eastern part of Freetown.  Hon Chief Justice Umu Hawa Tejan Jalloh (in photo) extolled DFID for aiding the Sierra Leone Judiciary and the Government as a whole in erecting the Fast Track Commercial Court at Government Wharf, the Pademba Road Court, and the newly commissioned one at Ross Road.

Madam Umu Tejan Jalloh said the judiciary system is currently capacitated with qualified magistrates and judges in all the districts of the country and pleaded with the people to take care of the court just as they would do to their own private property.

The Chief Justice explained that Justices of the Peace will occupy Court room Nos. 4 and 5 and there will be one High Court and two Juvenile Courts with magistrates.

His Excellency the president Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma expressed appreciation for the new development that will benefit the people of the east. He cataloged other developmental gains that his government has made for the people living in the eastern part of the capital city ranging from the free health care and the Black Hall Road Power Station to provide electricity supply to the east.
