I prefer FIFA ban Sierra Leone than allow Rodney to contest – Sports Minister
It was shameful, disgraceful, and unpatriotic when the Minister of Youth, Employment and Sport, Mr. Paul Kamara said on Eagle Radio 91.3 on Monday September 17th, 2012 that he will never allow one of the FA Presidential aspirants, Mr. Rodney Michael to contest the race because according to him Rodney has insulted him; a claim Rodney denies.
Kamara lambasted most football stakeholders for supporting a white man because of Mercury betting machines and revealed that as long as he is alive, Rodney will never take part in the FA presidential contest and that he will prefer FIFA banning us than to allow a white man like Rodney in the race.
Previously Paul Kamara banned Rodney even though the electoral board, headed by lawyer Gottor Kamara, had qualified him.
As if that is not enough, he said Rodney is SLPP and later wrote FIFA that he has formed a normalization committee because there is chaos within the football which is not conducive leading to November 17th general election.
Even though President Ernest Bai Koroma has called him to State House and told him to lift all bans and allow the election to go ahead free and fair, the minister is still adamant that he will never allow Rodney to contest. Delegates have said they will never allow Hon. Paul Kamara to impose anybody on them allowing FIFA to intervene which may see Sierra Leone banned from all international football activities.
The question asked by Sierra Leoneans is “why is the Minister of Sports not listening to President Ernest Bai Koroma’s advice above party or friendship interest?
Because of the numerous postponementsof the election from Kailahun in July, to Kenema, and now Freetown, the football family have been split into two camps, one supported by the minister while the same minister is against the other on the grounds that he is a white man and also an SLPP aspirant which will lead to chaos across the country within the football family.
