Police Brutalize Suspect
A suspect by the name of Edward Kawa Jr. on Friday, September 7th, was arbitrarily arrested and brutalized by officers of the Operation Support Division at the New England Police Division (OSD), at Dillet Street Junction, Brookfield, Freetown.
The arrest was carried out by over twelve senior and junior officers in a vehicle with registration number SLP 190. According to sources the suspect was arrested over a foregoing matter involving him and a police officer by the name of Saquee who happened to be a chaplain in the force.
It is reported that officer Saquee on the 16th August was found escorting the corpse of the suspect’s mother who died in a guest house that day to the morgue. It also revealed that the deceased had left that day for a church service only to be discovered that she was found dead in an unpleasant environment.
Eyewitnesses explained to this press that on that fateful day the police officer, who happens to be a neighbor of the deceased, was spotted carrying the corpse alone which incident further raised eyebrows among family members of the deceased who were opposed to the discrepancy in the explanation offered by Saquee and the ensuing brawl heightened amongst both family members.
Other sources revealed further that akin to the fact that officer Saquee is an active man in service, he acted by influencing his colleagues OSD officers to machinate the unlawful arrest of the suspect for assault.
The suspect was ruffled, beaten and dragged as he tried to enquire why he was being invited to the police station without a warrant. All effort to identify himself as a decent citizen was flagrantly neglected and left for abuse by the OSD officers.
In a bid to strike the balance, this press approached an inspector who was manning the arrest for an interview, he responded that he owes no body an explanation.
