Book Theft… Businessman Nabbed

Ibrahim Leigh a businessman dealing in used clothing and resident of No. 17 Kamanda Farm, Wellington was past Thursday, 6th August, 2012 arrested while in possession of two rice bags full of reader books belonging to the Bishop Crowder Primary School.

According to the Local Unit Commander (LUC), at the Ross Road Police Station, Mr. Gbonnoh, his officers on duty were on their usual night patrol, when they saw a large crowd of people gathered at a place called White-House at Cline Town, East of Freetown.  He went on to state that the officers stopped at the scene to inquire what was going on.  Upon their arrival at the scene, he said they saw the accused person in the hands of some Cline Town youths who apparently tied him up and poured a lot of burnt-oil all over his body with intent to be burn him to death had it been for the intervention the police. Mr. Gbonnoh went on to say that his officers restrained the irate youths and convinced them that he should be handed over at the Ross Road Police Station, which they adhered to.

The accused person, Ibrahim Leigh  admitted to the offence and went on to explain that a  man known as LAJ sold him the reader books that are believed to have been stolen from the Bishop Crowder Primary School. He went on to disclose that he has been doing business with LAJ for a very long time now but has never encountered any problem since. He further noted that if he had known that the items were not genuine he wouldn’t have bought them.

Meanwhile, investigation is in progress at the Ross Road Police Division while the alleged businessman is at large.
