Appointment of Senior Personnel

African Minerals Limited is pleased to announce the following senior management appointments:

  • Mr Graham Foyle-Twining as Global Head of Human Resources and Sustainable Development
  • Mr Guy Laliberte as Tonkolili Project Director
  • Mr Francois Lemieux as General Manager Rail Operations

Graham Foyle-Twining – Global Head of Human Resources and Sustainable Development

Graham has enjoyed a career in human resources and community engagement spanning over thirty years in Africa, Asia, the UK and North and South America. Graham’s most recent role was as Global Head of Human Resources and Sustainable Development with Teck Resources of Vancouver, Canada and prior to that with Walter Energy, Rio Tinto and DeBeers. Graham will be based in London although he will spend a significant amount of his time in Sierra Leone, as we move to establish a comprehensive human resourcing plan and sustainable development strategy.

Guy Laliberte – Tonkolili Project Director

During the past 31 years, Guy has enjoyed a varied and successful career in the global mineral industry, specialising in large mine, plant and infrastructure construction projects in Canada, the Middle East and in West Africa. Prior to working with AML for SNC-Lavalin Mining and Metallurgy in the capacity of Project Director for Phase I, Guy was most recently project director for SNC on a DSO iron ore project in Liberia. Guy will be based predominantly in Sierra Leone, and will be responsible for completion of the Phase I expansion to 20Mtpa, and the commencement of the Phase II expansion to circa 50Mtpa.

Francois Lemieux – General Manager Rail Operations

Francois has built, managed and led teams in the construction, operation and optimisation of rail rolling stock, infrastructure and human resources over a 30 year career in Canada, Zimbabwe, Mali, Senegal and most recently Saudi Arabia. Francois will be based in Sierra Leone and will oversee all aspects of rail operations.

Chief Executive Officer, Keith Calder, commented on the appointments:

“The development of Tonkolili, in both Phase 1 and beyond, is reliant on the men and women that work there. Graham brings considerable experience in the areas of Human Resources, Organisational Development and Talent Management, and will assist us in attracting, retaining, training and developing our most important resource, our people.”

“Following the success of SNC team’s marshalling of the closing stages of the Phase 1 expansion to 20Mtpa, we are pleased to also welcome the leader of that team, M. Guy Laliberte, as Project Director for the current and future expansions, now as a permanent part of the AML team.”

“Francois will be responsible for creating the team and operating processes necessary for us to achieve our short term objective of sustainably moving 20Mtpa of iron ore from the Tonkolili Mine to the Pepel Port facility and to guide the organisation in its future rail developments as part of Phase II.”

“These appointments are an important step in the establishment of operational readiness and the creation of a leadership team that will generate the forward momentum necessary to the success of the project and the Company.”
