Georgia’s Sierra Leone diaspora leaders ready for presidential visit
All Peoples Congress (APC) Georgia Chapter Leadership To Hold News Conference in Atlanta
ATLANTA — On Friday, August 31, 2012, 5:00pmEST, the All Peoples Congress (APC) Georgia Chapter will hold an international news conference at Atlanta’s public access television station People TV (190 14th St, Atlanta, GA 30318), announcing their new leaders and their plans to ensure the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency The Honorable Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma garners the attention of Georgia’s top public policy leaders, the Carter Center, and the United Nations Security Council during his upcoming visit to the United States.
The peaceful future of Sierra Leone lies in the balance, claims recently elected Chapter President Abu Bakarr Kanu, a dual citizen of both the United States and his country of birth, the West African Republic of Sierra Leone.
“We cannot afford to have the progress our country has experienced under the leadership of Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma halted,” explains Kanu, a successful civil engineer with a major construction firm in metro Atlanta. “It will take the attention of the international community and our efforts in the Diaspora to give President Koroma the support critically necessary for his re-election in November.”
Highly respected in the United Nations and recently lauded in Guinea for his leadership, President Koroma is credited for being elected in 2007 under the most credible, nonviolent, free and fair election process in recent African history, with 73% of Sierra Leone’s population voting.
