At the Holy Spirit Hospital the lead Inspector from the regulatory body Mr. Abdulai Abass Kargbo on inspection of the x-ray machine, discovered that there were two but only one was registered in the of the regulatory authority.  He noted that the x-ray machines were being operated by untrained and unqualified Radiographers and dark room assistants.

He also discovered that there were no radiations warning signs and the door was not lead-lined.  He noted that there were no exposure lights and that the waiting area was too close to the X-ray room, meaning that the control area was not properly demarcated.

The Medical Director Holy Spirit Hospital, Dr. Patrick Turay said that they had just relocated the X-ray equipment to the new structure and that they were creating a new environment for the patients and workers. He noted that the Hospital catered for everyone. He requested the Radiation Protection Authority to organize training on basic radiation protection for the radiographers. He also revealed that the new X-ray machine was a donation to the Hospital and effort was being made to regularize the registration of the Machine with the Authority

The Inspection Team, comprised Messrs.’ Abdulai Abass Kargbo, Umar Bun Tejan lead inspector, Ms. Martha Tutu George, and Christopher Wallace – Johnson Public Relations Officer.
