In a telephone conversation with the owner of the boat, Foday Sesay, he intimated this press that seven of his crew members including himself and ten other passengers were out to fish when the boat torpedoed and capsized as a result of a whirl storm at sea.
Mr. Foday said some of the deceased crew members are Alimamy Kamara, Sulman Mansaray alias (go sleep), Amid Sesay, Fouda Kamara, and others. He added that the crew members left on Sunday evening, but discovered the sea was not favorable as it was raining cats and dogs with thunder and lightening which suddenly struck and split the boat into two halves. Foday further revealed that he was saved by the grace of God as he swam ashore to a village called Plantain for help.
He disclosed that the remains of two of the crew members Amid Sesay and Fouda Kamara have been discovered and further noted that there is an ongoing search by the Sierra Leone Navy in Tombo for the bodies of other victims.
