Africell doles prizes to Second set of winners

Africell on Friday 3rd August gave out prizes to its second set of  195 winners of the Ramadan Hidden Treasure Hunt 2 promotion, at their headquarter offices, No 1 Pivot Street, Wilberforce, Freetown.

Africell’s Corporate Affairs Officer, Joe Abass Bangura said during the occasion that the promotion started on July 20, and the first set of presentation of prizes was done on Friday July 27 . He said they are presenting prizes to winners of the shows held on July 26 to 1st August, 2012.

He educated subscribers how to take part in the promotion saying Africell subscribers only need to send a blank text or call 777 at a cost of 10 units to automatically qualify for the daily selection. He noted that the company will give back 10 on-net units to the subscriber for each call made or text sent, adding that these on-net units must however be utilized before 12 midnight of the same day.

Africell’s Head of Media Relation, Nancy L. Joseph informed subscribers how the draw is conducted on a daily basis. She furthered that the show is held live on SLBC TV with simultaneous broadcast on major Radio stations nationwide between 7:00 p.m., and 8:00 p.m., from Monday to Saturday.

She noted that qualifying numbers are randomly selected using a computer software and that upon selecting a number, the subscriber is called and prompted to choose a number from 1 to 40. She said the window with the number chosen, will be opened to give the subscriber one of the following 4 alternatives.

  1. Winning cash prizes ranging from Le 100,000 to 300,000
  2. Winning from 400 to 1200 units’ airtime.
  3. A chance to spin to the wheel of fortune and win one of four items – Plasma TV, Generator, Fridge/freezer or 400 or 800 unit’s airtime.
  4. A chance to visit the Genie for the Treasure hunt- with a chance to win the star prize of Le. 20, 000, 000 or a consolation prizes of Le. 200,000,  she concluded.

The prizes were distributed by Africell staff, the cash winners are 72, household items winners are 13, and it all summed up to 195 lucky subscribers who won.

The occasion was chaired by Africell’s Media Supervisor, Tom Terry Coker.
