The decision was taken by the organisers after Jam Jam FC’s 2-2 draw with Bo’s Southern Queens to mark their second game in the tournament.

Jam Jam FC are the second team that have been driven out the national finals after Bintumani Queens of Kabala.

Their disqualification means all their games in the finals have been notified leaving three teams Mahmoud FC of Freetown, Makeni’s Rising Queens and Southern Queens to fight for the one qualification spot in the female category.

The organisers of the the tournament are very keen to maintain sanity and fair play and therefore can’t compromise the rules and regulations governing the competition.

On the pitch, Mahmoud FC won the battle for supremacy following their 2-0 victory over Makeni’s finest team Rising Queens in an interesting match watched by a large crowd at the Wusum field.

The Western Area Champions were deserved winners as they dominated the better part of the match with the impressive Dorris Ansumana and Sarah Bangura securing the goals.

Mahmoud FC are now in a better position to be crowned champions of the female category and qualify to represent Sierra Leone at the Airtel Pan African Tournament in Nairobi this month.

Santos Maria leading on goal difference

The male division unlike the female category is widely open with three teams still have the chance to win the tournament. They are Kallon FC of Kenema, Makeni’s Santos Maria and Edmond Michael Foundation (EMF) of Bo

Golden Stars of Magburaka and Siant Loius Rangers of Freetown are out of the race beacuse they have lost two games each and even victories in their remainng matches will not be enough to see them through to Kenya. Stars have also drew one game against EMF.

Santos Maria are now leading on superior goal difference ahead of Kallon FC as the two teams have six points each with the later having a game at hand. EMF are third with four points from two matches.

After suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of EMF in their open match, Santos Maria made amends with two victories on Friday.

They defeated Golden Stars 2-0 with stirker Habib Kella Kamara scoring the goals and also thrashed Saint Louis Rangers 3-0. Kamara again was on the score sheet together with Baimba Conteh who netted twice.

Kallon FC narrowly defeated Saint Louis Rangers 1-0, thanks to Alisyous Moiwoh. EMF wasted a golden opportunity when their midfielder Mohamed E. Kabba missed a penalty to draw with Golden Stars goalless in an entertaining match.

The tournament continues on Saturday with three matches and ends on Sunday with two games.
