Police Detain Army Captain

A man in military fatigues of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces is under investigation at the Criminal Investigations Department in Freetown for impersonation.

The man is said to have been arrested in Makeni by one Captain Sieh carrying a military promotion rank of Captain on his uniform. CSP Karrow Kamara in charge of the CID disclosed that Amara Sesay was arrested in full military uniform with the rank of captain at about 1300 hours on Saturday July 14^th 2012 along Station Road in Makeni.

“When questioned whether he was a soldier he admitted being a captain attached to the Third Brigade Battalion in Kenema” Karrow said, adding that the fake Amara said he was among the first set of cadet officers who graduated in the Nigeria Military Academy in 1999.

He said Capt. Sesay reported ill in 2010 suffering partial paralysis and he had cause to leave the army to secure his healing. Karrow said Captain Sesay revealed of how he went to Gorahun Tonkia in search of local medicinal herbs consequent to his healing.

He was arrested on Saturday July 14^th 2012 along Mission Road in Makeni, Karrow stated, adding that the man still insists that he is a soldier but not a captain and has referred us to the military records department to cross check information about him.
