An interview with the leader of the CDP said the National Electoral Commission (NEC) is doing their part to ensure free, fair, transparent and peaceful election, despite the logistical challenges facing the commission. But that some political parties are fermenting tensions among the electorate.

He said the Biometric Voter Registration is one of the best models in election processes to avoid double voting or rigging of votes during election.  He said the commission has engaged all stakeholders in the process to ensure it is a free fair and transparent.

The CDP leader also said the Political Parties Registration Commission should be very proactive in investigating political violence across the country aimed at disturbing the peace and stability of the country for their personal gains.

He further alleged that the big parties including APC and SLPP are to be investigated on violent related incidents and if found guilty they should cancel their candidature for the 2012 election to deter others from practicing the social menace.

He added that they as a party supports the National Electoral Commission strive to have a democratic process in ensuring free, fair and transparent election without any favor.

On the question of 9000 double registration during the Biometric Voter Registration, the CDP leader said he believes that NEC will investigate the anomaly and come out with the true figure that is acceptable to the people of Sierra Leone.

The CDP leader said NEC is capable of running the 2012 election without any political interference from Political Parties.

The CDP leader concluded that, his party has just ended a working visit to the Diaspora to explain about the ideals of the party to other Sierra Leoneans in a bid to win the 2012 election.

He also called for the suspension of political parties involved in political related violence that disturbs the peace process.
