SLPP Welcomes Maada Bio
Leader and Presidential Aspirant of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio received a hero’s welcome in Freetown on returning home from his maiden trip to Ghana, France, Ethiopia, Germany, Belgium, England, and Canada.
The procession march started from Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) hall at Rasmussen Street, National Stadium, unto the party secretariat at Wallace Johnson Street. The welcome procession was organized by the Western Area party Executives.
Mr. Bio addressed his supporters at the party secretariat saying he strongly believes in the principle of the freedom of belonging.
He noted that his philosophy to take the party forward hangs on the string of freedom of association among others.
Mr. Bio endorsed decisions taken by members of his executive whilst he was away noting that it shows that their party is not remotely controlled by one single individual. The retired brigadier denounced tribalism and ethnic divide.
John Oponjo Benjamin who chaired the occasion said the issue Maada Bio raised speaks volume of what their party shares.
Dr. Kadie Sesay, running mate to Julius Maida Bio, paid tribute to the slogan of the ruling party, which is one country, one people. She said they command 100% support in the Northern Region citing that the pool of crowd which gathered at Lungi Airport in welcoming their flag-bearer Julius Maada Bio was a clear indication that the APC can no longer bank on their northern support.
Isata Jabbie Kabbah (IJ) leader of the SLPP women’s wing also admonished the supporters that they are working assiduously as the women’s wing to help restore back the party into office in the November 17 elections.
