Koinadugu SLPP/APC unite behind Momoh Konte
Both members of Parliament of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party, (SLPP) and the ruling All People’s Congress party (APC) united in the case between Momoh Konte vs. the State took place yesterday Wednesday 20th June at the High Court No. 1 presided over by Magistrate Abdulai Cham in the High Court of Sierra Leone in Freetown.
The prosecution presented their first witness, Mr. Felix Lansana Tejan Kabba who is also the Chief Investigator at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
In his testimony, the witness tendered a copy of transcript and DVD claimed to be sent by the Aljazeera TV Network to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
In addition to that, he further tendered a memorandum and article of association sent by the same network.
The defence counsel led by Hon. Agibola Manley Spaine objected to the documents tendered based on their authenticity, the source, and the country where the transcript was produced.
The prosecution led by the Director of Prosecution of the Anti- Corruption Commission Mr. Reginal Fynn quoted section 76 of the ACC act which he believes supports the tendering of a copy of the document.
The trial Judge after hearing the whole argument overruled the objection of Mr. Manley Spaine but cautioned that the document tendered.
However, what amazed onlookers at the court was the show of concern of members of parliament of Koinadugu District from the APC and the SLPP namely, Hon. Unisa Samura from the SLPP, Hon. Kondeh also from the SLPP, and Hon. Abu Kawusu Konte of the ruling APC accompanied by their Hon. Paramount Chief PC Alie Balamsama Marrah III, for Momoh Konte the accused.
