Safer Future Commended

Residents of Moribaya, Yealie Boyah and its environs in the Kambia district have commended the Safer Future Youth Development Organization (SFYDO), for the installation of solar submersible pump for the supply of safe drinking water at Moribaya.

The NGO has its headquarters at Allen Town and runs a vocational institute that trains youth in catering, tailoring, gara- tie- dying among others and also a Secondary School.

The intervention of (SFYDO), in the Kambia District in particular, has contributed to the control of cholera which has become a deadly pandemic in that part of the country for the past few weeks.

Pa Alimamy Sesay of Moribaya on behalf of his people    acclaimed safer Future for its efforts to control the outbreak of cholera, noting, “with the installation of solar submersible pump in Moribaya as the main water source for most of the island towns and villages of the surroundings, Safer Future has immensely contributed to saving lives.”

Idriss Kamara, SFYDO Executive Director said he  was impressed with the amount  of appreciations  received from  residents and stated  that although some of their building materials were stolen at Petifu Lokomassa Junction recently, they would  still  not  relent in rendering their assistance to the people.

He further revealed that the aim of the organization is to improve the lives of the marginalized and deprived youths by providing free education in different technical and vocational skills. The Organization he said, also strives to develop and maintain infrastructure in rural and remote areas, providing life skills training in secluded communities and water sanitation by introducing the rain water harvest systems, construction and repairing of water wells.

“Safer Future has undertaken several other projects nationwide in line with its mission statement and has also transformed several youths in technical and vocational training,” I. D. Kamara noted.

According to Idriss Kamara aka ID, the doors of the SLMB School which were stolen have been fixed at the School with the three suspects referred to the Lungi Police Station on Thursday 15th June, 2012 for investigation.

 SFYDO was rubbed be thieves between 28th and 29th May, 2012 of its construction materials including, four steel doors, one set water well lining molds among others at its   stores at the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood (SLMB) Primary School, in Petifu Lokomasama Junction, Lokomasama Chiefdom Port Loko District.

The matter was reported to the Petifu Lokomassama Junction police station and investigation I still being conducted. Three suspects have since been arrested with exhibits consisting of the water well lining molds at Matein, few miles from Petifu Lokomassama Junction.

 SEFDO has also been applauded by youth within the Allen Town community for its tremendous efforts in transforming their lives.

“Safer has contributed immensely to the development of youth and the country with its skills technical and vocational trainings and it also has transformed several communities nationwide with its developmental projects,” Mohamed Mansaray a beneficiary stated.
