Girl Child Network organizes fundraising
The Sierra Leone Girl Child Network organized a fund raising event on Friday June 15 to champion the cause of girl child education in the country.
The event took place at the Androsa Leisure Centre, Murray Town in Freetown. Speaking during the occasion, Chairman, Joko Kwafor said women and children are the ones who suffer the most forms of abuse, especially at chiefdom levels across the country for which they needed to be protected from.
Kwafor said the ceremony was held to raise funds for Girl Child Network. Country Director, Mrs. Anita Koroma said she organized the fundraising gala to display her organization’s work and raises fund on the other hand to support the organisation in its drive to advocate and raise the awareness of girls across the country.
She said the rate of Human Right violations melted on girls signals that the country’s Human Rights Laws needs revisiting. She calls on the all young and old men to stop the sexual violations as the girls are fed-up of that.
She calls on mothers to stop sending their girls for prostituting because of poverty.
Anita Koroma said her organisation has set a budget sum of Le20,000,000.00 to organize a conference for girls in August of this year.
