PACM & BLACOMO – Afrika Liberation Day Declaration 2012

On the occasion of AFRIKA LIBERATION DAY 2012, the Pan-Afrikan CommUnity Movt (PACM) & Black Consciousness Movt (BLACOMO) wish to make the following declarations:

  1. We condemn the decision by the Government of Sierra Leone to send troops to Somalia. We maintain this is wrong and that peace can come to Somalia only through political/peaceful negotiations. Our presence will only prolong and deepen the conflict for strategic gains of imperialist and neo-colonial forces and their Proxy wars in Africa.
  2. We condemn African Union’s failure to stand up for the people of Africa and for allowing itself to be a stooge of western-imperialism in Africa.
  3. We condemn the gang rivalry among youths in various parts of Freetown. We call on youths to divert their energy more positively towards social justice and better living conditions for all.
  4. We equally condemn increasing police violence and brutality against citizens in Sierra Leone. The police are far too willing to employ brute force as the first resort in responding to protests. Musu Conteh (a citizen of Sierra Leone) was killed in Bumbuna in April due to police brutality and violence. To this regard, we call on the government to investigate and take action against these acts of police brutality and bring perpetrators to book.
  5. We denounce the use of tribalism by the APC/SLPP and other political parties in Sierra Leone.
  6. We call on the people of Sierra Leone to demand real political and economic democracy including equitable distribution of wealth of the society for the benefit of all not just the elites and politicians. Wealth from mining and other natural resources should be made to benefit all Sierra Leoneans and not just government officials and their foreign masters.
  7. We want an end to the privatization and neoliberal agenda of the APC Government. This only benefits the few (1%) while the 99% are left in more poverty.
  8. We call for an end to CASUAL LABOUR and strict laws to protect worker’s rights in Sierra Leone – Workers Rights are Human Rights.
  9. We condemn the sale of our land to foreign multinationals  under the guise of foreign investment and demand a national conference on Land Redistribution and agrarian reform.
  10. We denounce the United States’ Africa Command (AFRICOM) and the militarization of Africa. This is part of the US/European agenda to re-colonise/re-enslave Africa – the new scramble for Africa.
  11. We support the demand of the women of Sierra Leone for a minimum 30% quota for women in political decision making in S. Leone, however, we maintain that real gender equality can only be truly achieved through economic and social justice through wealth redistribution to benefit all.
  12. PACM Sierra Leone, wishes to send Africa Liberation Day Solidarity message to all Pan-Africanist organizations struggle for African Liberation and social justice at home and abroad.
  13. This also serves to announce the REVIVAL OF BLACOMO and the launch of preparations BLACOMO’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY (25th/ May 1983 – 25th May 2013).
  14. FINALLY, PACM DECLARES THE FORMATION OF THE COALITION AGAINST LAND GRABBING (C.A.L.G.) IN SIERRA LEONE.
