Time to Scold Lawlessness Mr. President

The story is not always great when it comes to the issue of violence and how our forces for good are handling such situations. This without ambiguities is a slap on the face of the Sierra Leone Police Force who still have failed to shed off their spot by allowing a new down on their image.

Sometimes when the masses speak ill of the police it is not implying hate but meant to wake their conscience so they can take care of their follies by maintaining few mistakes; it means from a civilian point of view that they have all the reasons to remain professionals by every standard because a security lapse is risk to human lives.

It is a boyish remedy to always assume that MAC-P is always the most sure ball option to the security primacy of the land, what Mr. President should do here is to instill a high level of discipline in the rank and file of the police force in an order that a precedent is set.

The masses of this land, Mr. President are realty sick and tired with the often mistakes of the Sierra Leone Police. At some stage we tend to believe that they are humans as well, but it is not an excuse enough for them to toy with people’s lives.

The rules remain sacrosanct of the fact that the police are chief custodians of the law because they are law students and are in place to discipline the dictate of such laws as they are protecting by implementing them to the letter.

The other time it was rowdy argument that they should be in possession of fire arms, in the next moment we are hearing the rampant scale of the armed robbery menace in both the capital city and the provincial towns.

This is not just an issue of temporal security alternative – like using Military Aid to complement effort of the police; rather the police need to be tamed and make it a force to reckon with.

We demand discipline of the rank and file of the police sir, Mr. President!
