Information Ministry Assures City Residents
The Minister of Information and Communications Ibrahim Ben Kargbo at the usual press briefing at the Ministry of information and Communication, Youyi Building said His Excellency Ernest Bai Koroma has taken exception to the spate of armed robberies in the capital of Freetown, especially the Wellington incident.
He said the president has vowed that his government will not stand and see the activities of some unscrupulous individuals drive away potential investors. The Minister said the country can now boast of 13 commercial banks, six mining companies, and two additional Tele Communications companies ready for operation.
He ended saying that political violence should not be part of the Country electoral culture.
In another development, the office of the Government Spokesman in the Ministry of Information and Communication in a press release dated June 7th of this year drew the attention of the government to the increased spate of armed robbery in the capital and it environs with Wellington being the most recent.
The release further stated that the formation of community vigilante groups should be done in due consultation with the Sierra Leone Police who have the constitutional powers to protect lives and properties of all citizens in the land.
The release also remind the general public that government will continue to provide the necessary logistical support to the police for the maintained of law and order throughout the Country.
The release on behalf of the government extends condolences to the bereaved families.
