As part of its mandate to promote and protect human rights throughout the country, the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone is organising a two-day national elections consultative conference on May 30 and 31 at the Bank Complex, Kingtom, Freetown, on the theme “Making human rights real in the 2012 elections”.
The conference will bring together 200 stakeholders nationwide including political parties, Government representatives, traditional authorities, elections management bodies, security forces, civil society, the media and diplomatic community, to dialogue towards transparent, peaceful, free and fair election in November; and for citizens to exercise their civil and political rights throughout the process without interference or hindrance.
The attendance and cooperation of all invited delegates is required to ensure the realisation of the objectives of the conference.
