Tom Shoe (UK) Provides Shoes for Sierra Leonean Children

Bo, Wednesday May 23 (SLENA)- A UK based shoe factory, Tom Shoe Industry has provided a consignment of shoes for the deprived, excluded and vulnerable children (DEV) in Sierra Leone.

According to SLENA, the good in kind (GIK) activity operating under the grant acquisition project is for 61,400 Sierra Leonean children.

In a briefing on the gesture, the Bo-Moyamba  Programme Area manager, Child Fund-SL, Dr. David Oyaken-John who doubles as Coordinator of Tenage Pregnancy, Child Fund, said ten shoe industries have sent a bill of quantity to his organisation for distribution.

Dr. John said Child Fund is actively engaged in the registration of the DEVs in the six districts of Sierra Leone.

He said Koinsadugu district will have 11,979 pairs of shoes while Bombali district has a quota of 11,000.

The second city, Bo will have a quota of 13,750 while Moyamba will have 13,671. He said Kailahun district will have 11, 000 from the project which by all indication will be an annual activity of Child Fund-SL.

Meanwhile, Child Fund has completed the rehabilitaation of hand pump water wells  at Mattru-on-the Rail in the Tikonko chiefdom, Bo district. The project, according to  Dr. John, is estimated at ten million leones funded by Goal Gift of Love and Hope (GOLEH).
