Ambassador Multi-Kamara extols President Koroma’s leadership

Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China has spoken that Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Ernest Bai Koroma has gone through an impressive turnaround and that the country’s pace of development “is moving very fast…”

Ambassador Multi-Kamara made these remarks on Wednesday, 25th April whilst addressing both local and diplomatic staff during his first encounter with them upon arriving in Beijing as Ambassador.  He spoke that even though Sierra Leone is yet to arrive at its destination in terms of development, there is hope and confidence among Sierra Leoneans that “things will move on well, under President Koroma” He said, there has been significant progress in Sierra Leone under the leadership of President Ernest Bai Koroma and as such, as a result of the determination and successes of the government, Sierra Leone is today moving towards what he referred to “an Agenda for Prosperity”.

Speaking on the relationship between China and Sierra Leone, the Ambassador stated, that the relationship is very special in the sense that Sierra Leone does not only appreciate the role of China in its development, but that the role played by Sierra Leone in guaranteeing China’s entrance to the UN Security Council through Sierra Leone’s single vote  was very crucial as well as the relation that has been existing between the Chinese Communist Party and  the ruling party in Sierra Leone, the All Peoples Congress.

On his appointment as Ambassador to China by President Koroma, Ambassador Multi-Kamara spoke that it was a deliberate one as his arrival in Beijing is meant to restore confidence and to reinforce the special relationship that is existing between Sierra Leone and the People’s Republic of China. He entreated both local and diplomatic staff to do more so as to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. “Let us strengthen our collective effort to be able to project the China-Sierra Leone ties”, he encouraged all present.

Ambassador Multi-Kamara encouraged the Embassy staff to be dedicated to work and support him in his new assignment as well as in his rebranding efforts of the Embassy. He also spoke that there are so many Embassies in China and as such, the Sierra Leone Mission should see itself as being in a competition where everyone should be committed to make an impact.

Earlier, the Head of Chancery, Paul A S Minah introduced the new Ambassador as someone with vast experience in diplomacy. He said, the new Ambassador may be new in China “but not new in the job as he has worked with several institutions outside of Sierra Leone”.

Paul A S Minah also informed the Ambassador that there is a “small but very active workforce in the Embassy” and that there must have been challenges over the years but his arrival will help move things.
