IMF Lauds President Koroma

Mrs. Malanga Kabedi M’buyi Mulango Tuesday 10th April, 2012 gave her mission’s shimmering acknowledgment to the government of Sierra Leone, during a courtesy call on President Koroma at State House, Freetown.

Speaking shortly after a her brief introduction to the President by the Minister of Finance and Economic Development Dr. Samura Kamara, Mrs. Mulango expressed the IMF’s satisfaction about the rapid transformation Sierra Leone is presently going through under the leadership of President Koroma in less than four years in office.

Mrs. Mulango said that she was leading the IMF mission in Burkina Faso when she learnt that Sierra Leone is making a steady progress in the areas of infrastructure, health care delivery, mines and mineral, energy, agriculture sectors, and other priority areas under the ‘Agenda for Change’.

“I can see the changes for myself even though there are still developmental challenges, yet a lot of progress have been made in terms of development and policy implementations, and we hope we will be able to present a discussion to our bosses in Washington this year, in respect of strides that have been made by the government of Sierra Leone”, she said.

Progress made by the President Koroma administration, she maintained are very much outstanding, adding that the IMF mission in Sierra Leone will provide more solid foundation in fostering the developmental gains by government.

She therefore commended President Koroma for his government’s judicious utilization of state resources in key areas under the ‘Agenda for Change’.

“We believe that we would further support the policies of your government” the IMF Country Representative reassured President Koroma.

For his part, President Koroma described the whole venture as a challenging task especially in moving the country forward.

The Head of State said government has maintained a very good relationship with the IMF, and spoke of determination in maintaining an efficient fiscal management.

“We are trying to ensure that every Sierra Leonean benefit from resources of the country” he said, whiles stating  that the Sierra Leone Conference was a forum that received proposals from citizens at home and abroad, on how to manage the natural resources as well as  how to build the revenue capacities of the state.

President Koroma thus welcomed the technical advice of the IMF, noting every commitments of government to improve on what has been achieved so far.
