Principals embezzle millions – Teachers verification Exercise across the country has shown that some salaries of head teachers are higher than others noting that it should be flat rate.
Vouchers of theses affected Head teachers have been withheld by the ministry until anomalies are addressed.
The verification team also noted that some teachers with HTC and TC are receiving salaries more than degree holders with Education. The ministry realized that some principles are in the habit of chopping the salaries of teacher’s whose service no longer exist in their schools.Dr. Minkailu Bah is reported to have urged the conference of principles last year that teachers will only be replaced after the removal of those who have left the system, and call ed on them to assist the government in that direction.

Statistics Sierra Leone Launches MICS 4 Report – Statistics Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and UNICEF, on Tuesday 27th March 2012, officially launched the multiple Indicator Cluster Survey 4 report at the Miatta conference Hall, Youyi Building in Freetown.
The Deputy Minister of Finance and Economic Development Alhaji F.B.L. Mansaray revealed that MICS-4 is an international Household survey Program developed by UNICEF and was conducted as part of the Fourth Global round of MIC survey.
The report he went on, provide up to date information on the situation of Children’s and women and key indicators that allowed Countries to monitor progress towards the Millennium Development Goal and other international agreed Commitment.
The objectives of the survey are to provide current information for assessing the present situation of Women and Children in Sierra Leone, including the identification of vulnerable groups and disparities among groups in order to influence policies and interventions, to produce data to monitor progress towards the achievement of target and goals that includes the MDG and the World Fit for Children Declaration, and most importantly, to contribute to the improvement of statistical data and strengthening of national capacity and technical expertise in the design and Implementation of such systems.
Former SLPP Ambassador expects more defections off SLPP – The former Ambassador from Freetown Sierra Leone to the people republic of Guinea Alhaji Dr. Shekubah Saccoh in a press conference at stadium hostel conference room this week disclosed that he had foreseen the massive spate of defections from the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) which he defected from some three years ago. According to him, the way the leaders and stakeholders of the SLPP are going about with politics and the welfare of the party will cause even more senior and reputable stakeholders to quit the party. He maintained that the SLPP is very hypocrite, biased party that is misusing youths who are supposed to be the feature generation.
UN commends Sierra Leone Police – The highest ranking police official in the United Nation System, Ann Marie Orler has commended the Sierra Leone Police for being among the top contributors Women Police to the United Nation Peace Keeping Operation .the police adviser for the UN Department of peacekeeping operation made this commendation in a statement issued at the UN Headquarter in New York recently.
