Beef up the security, Mr. President!
It is election time in Sierra Leone this year, yet, spates of armed robbery incidents are heightening. Thieves in police outfits have always been spotted – to give it crown; painting their national image with blench of a character.
The police have always defended back the scolding accusations – but it leaves doubts in the major defense as one ponders who to trust for the safety of their lives and property. This is not to say the police force for good’s effort is meant for ridicule here, but we mean some authority should take the onus of doing the deadly to correct the thievery menace that is soon rendering the country heedless.
One robbery account would scold the police here and there, and even though – they make their innocence pleading, the bad apples as the case may be make us believe that there is more the police can do to ameliorate the situation further.
Of late the police have showcased that: all they know about enforcing law and order is highhandedness – bursting canisters in the fray air. Reports of how they are inefficient in responding to distress calls are many. We at Sierra Express Media don’t want to believe that the police are short of ideas to keep the security watertight in screwing level.
Yes you are not super humans, – the police, with plutonic skins, but you are trained experts, paid out of the penury stricken masses taxes to do the extra-ordinary. We demand that you beef up and stop telling excuses that may further subject citizens’ lives to danger.
Already from the look of things, the police have had weak spots – and are made worse in the scenario where they breached protocols to fire canisters of teargas to coil down a jibe tussle in the national stadium in a gathering which hosted the President, the Vice President, the Inspector General of Police, government minister et al. If these are follies, Mr. I.G, we hereby call on your leadership – if it is able, to beef up and save the plights of the peaceful ordinary citizens.
