Business Bomba competition kicks off

The Business Bomba Competition – a brand name for a business plan organized by Africa Foundation for Development Sierra Leone (AFORD) on Tuesday held a day workshop for participants opting for the competition at the YMCA hall, Fort Street, in the capital Freetown.

Sixty participants out of the short listed will be semi finalists in the competition. It gives the individual the opportunity to have a consultant paid by AFORD, the Implementing agent to help draft participants’ business idea into business plans.

The competition will be covering four categories ranging from Agriculture, Technology, Youth, Women, and general – each winner expecting to grab a swell sum of Le,100,000,000 each; with consolation prices ranging from 35,000,000, 30,000,000 and 25,000,000 Leones respectively

The business Bomba Competition was first started in 2007 with Eva Robert whose business plan packages the Moringa plants into tea bags.  Theophelus Powers who came second in the row processed Agricultural waste into a bio briquette coal.

Funders of the competition include Sores Economic Development Funds, International Finance Corporation, GIZ, and the Ministry of Trade.
