Army Colonel on the run
Lieutenant Colonel Sheku Salami Silla is said to have abandoned his office and on the run to an unknown destination off the shores of Sierra Leone.
He was contingent commander of the reconnaissance Sierra Leone company – 3 (SRC-) since April to November 2011, whilst on United Nations peace assignment in the troubled region of Darfur/ Sudan.
We are yet to confirm reason(s) leading to the unwarranted and unprofessional disappearance of Lt. Col. Silla.
Sources say however that the Lt Col was expected to have given briefings of his contingent financial conducts while in Sudan, but failed to do so on his returned; which, according to our findings, could have nailed him.
That acted unprofessional while on international assignment and as contingent commander though.
Disclosures are that he allegedly pregnated a female soldier, embezzled thousands of US dollars meant for the contingent’s running cost, welfare of troops inclusive.
It also told that personnel serving as peace keepers in Darfur when Sierra Leone celebrated its 50th anniversary were neither served water not a pint of soft notwithstanding the accessibility of funds then.
On parade that day -27 April 2011, Lt. Col. Silla openly said government has done nothing in terms of development and that according him, there was nothing worth celebrating.
