Inconsistency… Fadika tells Court “Aziz stabbed me” – tells SLBC “Aziz did not stab me”

Lansana Fadika, Wednesday 8th , told the High Court that he was intentionally wounded by Abdul Aziz Carew; a complete disagreement to what he earlier told SLBC TV, “I was wounded by one of Aziz’s boys not him at all.”

As he testified before high court Wednesday 8th, Fadika said that he was at Fourah Bay (his place of birth) to observe a local council bi-election, but noticed there was low voter turnout.

Being a son of Fourah Bay soil, he was left without option but to encourage his followers to join him to sensitize residents of Ward 369 Constituency 104 to come out in their numbers and vote.

While cajoling the electorates he was approached by the accused, Aziz Carew, who started throwing unkind words in opposition of him and followers.

The accused and his group told him to discontinue his house to house sensitization or face the perils severely.

“I warned him to refrain from talking violence,” Fadika told the court, “and preached peace to him, thus encouraging him to desist from violence.”

Aziz pretended yielding to advice given him, got closer to him Fadika as if to pay him respect, but bowed before him and stabbed him with a horn on his right leg.

As Fadika bleed blood profusely he was rushed to Cottage Hospital and then to the Connaught Hospital where he was given first aid treatment before finally being conveyed to Davidson Nicol Hospital where he was admitted.

Reflection must also be drawn to an interview with Fadika by SLBC television days after he was stabbed.

During the interview he told the viewers that he was wounded (stabbed) by one of Aziz’s boys on the day of the Fourah Bay bye- elections.

That the perpetrator (stabber) was arrested, handed over to Aziz with the instruction that he should produce him whenever needed by the police.

Two other witnesses, Abdul Lamin and Ibrahim Lewally both gave their testimonies before Justice Browne Marke too.

The accused, Abdul Aziz Carew, was refused bail and remanded in custody.

The matter is due to come up today Friday 10th.
