Computer jackpot for Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone’s Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Tamba Mansa Ngegba, has expressed interest on behalf of his country for a computer charity organisation to work in Sierra Leone.  He visited Computers 4 Africa, a charity social enterprise that has provided over 40,000 computers to sixteen different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa with the aim of providing opportunities for the poor and those otherwise excluded from access to ICT education and training.

The Deputy High Commissioner was invited by the charity to discuss how Computers 4 Africa could work into Sierra Leone and what opportunities there are for working together.

During the visit, the Deputy High Commissioner joined the team on a tour of their operation viewing cleaning, data wiping and technical teams as they worked on donated computers.

David West, CEO Computers 4 Africa

David West, Chief Executive Officer of Computers 4 Africa, said: “we are excited at the prospect of working with the Sierra Leone Education Ministry and their approved partners.

The computers that Computers 4 Africa provides give life changing education opportunities to hundreds of thousands of children each year.”

Computers 4 Africa transforms communities across Africa, by accepting working redundant PC’s and IT equipment from individuals, corporate and organisations in  the UK; once securely data wiped, the computers are then shipped out to schools, colleges, libraries, clinics and specific projects in Africa.
