President Koroma and delegation off to Jammeh’s inauguration
With only a matter of hours remaining for President elect of The Gambia, Professor Yayah Jammeh dubbed super Inauguration tomorrow (Thursday January 18th 2012), His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma will this evening leave the country, for The Gambia to grace the occasion with a 10 man strong delegation including Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph B Dauda. According to the Sierra Leone High Commissioner to The Gambia HE Mohamed Kemoh Fadika, the President and delegation will be given a befitting welcome in recognition of his developmental goals, especially in the areas of road infrastructure, energy, agriculture and health. He gave Sierra Leone Nationals Union in The Gambia, numbering over 6,000, APC Branch in The Gambia, Gambia National Dance Troupe, The Gambian Community and School children as groups lined up the routefrom the airport to welcome President Koroma and delegation.
“My President and delegation will also be entertained with home traditional music and dancing” he added. During his one night stay President Koroma is expected to meet with members of the Sierra Leone Nationals in The Gambia and the APC Branch in The Gambia.
President Jammeh will be sworn into office for another five years term of office. His APRC Government has been in office now for 18th interupted years. President Jammeh won the recently concluded presidential election with a land slide victory of over 76% of the total number of votes cast, trashing his two opponents in all constituencies.
President Jammeh who is widely referred to as inThe Gambia as ‘PAPA DON’T TAKE NO MESS’ once said that it would be a mistake for anyone to scare or intimidate him with the circumstances that led to the death of late col Gaddafi of Libya. “I fear no one but Allah”
Again, once asked when he would retire, he replied “If The Gambian people want me to rule for one billion years I will but the day they say its enough, I will retire and go to my farm. Yayah Jammeh is a farmer.”
The Sierra Leone delegation is to include, H.E President Ernest Bai Koroma, Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph B Dauda, Hon Alpha Kanu, Brian Gilpin, ADC Sheku Sesay, Executive Secretary Evon Tagoe, SCOP Sullay Daramy, Ibrahim Sesay, Razia Bash Kamara and Abdulai Tarawally (Press).
Activities lined up for the occasion included, a State Banquet, cultural show, victory dance and wrestling contest at Kanilia in President Jammeh’s home town.
