Kids Network celebrates Student Day
Kids Advocacy Network (KAN) Thursday 17th celebrates international Day of Students on the theme: “factors responsible for students’ failure at public exams.”
In his measurement, the national President of K.A.N, Edmund Alim B. Fornah (in photo), who also doubles as Sierra Leone’s child Ambassador, maintained nevertheless that 60% of students’ failure at public exams is mostly as a result of extra classes and no enough time to teach during school hours.
He lauded the efforts of President Koroma as he promotes education in Sierra Leone.
He however dedicated the day ‘November 17th’ to President Koroma on grounds depicting his strides in the development of education in the country.
He commended students who have the desire to learn, but lacked financial and parental supports.
Edmund called on government to implement the Professor Gbamaja report.
He thanked management of Sea Food Company for supporting students on-towards the celebration of international student day.
“It is my desire calling on colleague students to see themselves as ‘students of today and leaders of tomorrow,’” Edmund said.
He admonished all to say ‘no to violence’ and try to contribute to issues of national concern.
November 17th, he said, is a day set aside to observe student activism.
That the day commemorates the anniversary of the 1939 Nazi storming of the university of Prague after demonstrations against the killing of Jan Opletal and the occupation of Czechoslovakia, and the execution of nine student leaders.
He however named the nine students as: Josef Matousek, Jaroslav Klima, Jan Weinert, Josef Adamec, Jan Cerny, Marek Frauwirt, Bedrich Koukala, Vaclav Safranek and Frantisek Skorkovsky.
