New Bo LUC braces for challenges
The newly transferred Local Unit Commander (LUC), Bo Police Station, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Thomas Mustapha Lahai has informed the press that his transfer is in conformity with normal police regulations.
He observed that in spite of reports of political violence in Bo, there have been several changes since he assumed duty and revealed that to surmount the challenges confronting his operational area, there is the urgent need to put together a formidable team as well as strengthen the Local Police Partnership Board.
CSP Lahai also called on the media to be objective as the country approaches the 2012 elections and to cross check their stories before publication to avoid raising unnecessary alarms.
On the police/public relationship, he enlightened that an Act of Parliament of 1964 established the Police Force to complement the efforts of government to ensure peace, sanity and security of the country and guaranteed that the police would not relent in their responsibility.
Concluding, he pointed out that the police is not oblivious of the fact that it is a professional organization that is governed by ethics and warned police personnel to desist from active politics but to remain neutral professionals.
