Speaking in a telephone conversation, Chairman of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC) Mr. Mohamed Bangura registered his absolute disappointment at what he called the “indiscretion of the ruling All People’s Congress – APC to leave out the opposition segment of governance”. The chairman registered his dismay at the fact that the government could afford to circumvent original plans to have all stake holders included in the trip to London and take to monotonously represent the country’s interest. “How would they convince the world about political stability and good governance in the country when they could afford to clandestinely resort to smuggling themselves to an occasion that is meant for national inclusion and input; leaving out the opposition” adding that the programme had been designed and sponsored by the United Nations to form a formidable and cohesive national team to represent the country in various ways in London 2009.

“We were never officially invited; IB Kargbo just called me and said there’s going to be an investment conference in London but never sent letters of invitation to us as expected” the gentleman fumed on the phone. He disclosed that “in a meeting held with the UN Special representative to Sierra Leone Michael Schulenburg, it was made tacitly clear that all stakeholder are to take part, circumventing is tantamount to undermining the very essence of the programme.

In a confirmation call to the Secretary General of the Chief opposition Party-SLPP Jacob Jusu Saffa confirmed the fact and express similar dismay at the action of the ruling party.
