Ecowas Street turns into city canal

It was bewilderment in minds of all, especially foreign nationals, shortly after a street in the central business district of Freetown was flooded with unclean water owing to hours of downpour of rain.

Ecowas Street, situated in central Freetown, was flooded with germ infested water Monday 10th at approximately 10:30 a.m.

People doing business at the forenamed street could practically not access their offices, shops or makeshift structures as a result of the torrential water running through the length and breadth of the street.

Reports have it that drainages at Ecowas Street, prior to the rainfall, were overfilled with dumped waste neglectfully unemptied by either the Freetown City Council or officials of Sierra Leone Waste Management.

That traders doing business at Ecowas Street have had ceaseless moments informing the City Council and waste management officials remove filth of overfilled gutters around the street, but gets no positive response at all.

According to our reporter, he was told that the flood has occurred because officials tasked to collect filth in the city neglectfully ignore to do so.
