Business Council for Africa appoints new representative

The Business Council for Africa – West & Southern, has on Friday 30th September appointed Mr. Sheka Forna, Chairman of Splash Mobile Money and also CEO of Elixir Group as its new in-country representative for Sierra Leone.

Mr. Forna inherits the role from Mr. David Johnson of West African Banking Consultants, who has occupied the said position for seven years, and is now looking forward to retirement.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Forna explained that the council’s mission is to encourage better business in Africa, for the benefit of members and the sustainable economic development of the countries concerned. This is achieved through various means, including disseminating information on the countries’ commercial and economic opportunities, promoting networking opportunities, providing practical assistance to members doing business in the region, through support for capacity building.

Mr. Forna continued, ’the experience of returning from the UK and establishing several start up businesses in Sierra Leone, has made me very aware of the needs of potential investors.  I hope to use this knowledge to support the interest of the Business Council of Africa ,helping bring Sierra Leone the investment that we so urgently need.

I look forward to meeting with all relevant stake holders in government and business, to determine how best I may discharge my duties.

The outgoing representative, Mr. David Johnson added, the BCA provides tremendous insight into what is happening on the ground and provides an excellent forum for networking.  It has been my pleasure to serve the organization in Sierra Leone for these past years, and I wish Sheka the best of luck in taking it forward.
