Airtel Rising Stars western area tourney ends
The successful end of the regional under 17 boot ball tournaments courtesy of Airtel and Manchester United, gives Airtel another edge amongst other telecommunications company in Sierra Leone. The western area matches held at the Atouga mini stadium attracted hundreds of spectators to watch the young boys and girls display their talents.
Out of a total of 87 teams (boys and girls) 20 teams were qualified from the western region for the nationals. Matches were played amongst themselves from Thursday up to Sunday according to match fixtures, to dig out the most talented teams to go for the finals. The strong and determined female teams played with all eagerness to qualify for the nationals.
After all the enthusiastic play, 3 teams came out victoriously for the nationals. Red Eaglet came out victorious for the girl’s team, and the two auspicious boys teams were Mount Aureole Pizzo F.C and 13th Legion. These three teams were fortunate to reach for the nationals.
One of Red Eaglet player successfully snatched the best female player title for the girl’s team, which automatically help them make their way through to the finals . From 13th Legion came the best male player by the name of Amza Kamara
The competition has really been a success so far. The talented football stars are already visible as they put their talents at play. In a couple of weeks from now, Tanzania (Manchester clinic) will be ready to welcome Sierra Leonean born stars from the ARS under 17 tournaments. The nationals will be hosted at the National Stadium Freetown on the 21st unto the 25th of September, 2011, to dig out the 2 most talented under 17 players for this enviable Airtel Rising Stars Tournament. All matches start at 3:00pm, except the finals on Sunday which will start at 11:30am.
