Yehri Wi Cry Inc first mission trip to Sierra Leone
Freetown, Sierra Leone, August 1, 2011: For Yehri Wi Cry, Inc.’s (YWC) first initiative, President and Co-Founder, Marie Mansaray, Co-Presidents Nadia Sasso and Zainab Fadiu-Deen, and Secretary, Nadeen Lewally have arrived in Freetown, Sierra Leone to distribute birthing kits and incentive packages, and to educate the global community about the magnitude of prenatal care and its significance to a successful birthing process. Over the past three months the members of YWC have held numerous fundraisers and garnered several donations to see this trip come to fruition.
It is YWC’s mission to alleviate the soaring maternal and infant mortality rates that plague the nation of Sierra Leone. YWC President and Co-Founder Marie Mansaray states, ‘The fact that women are suffering from complications during stages of pregnancy serves as a major issue in the development of Sierra Leone. Who knows what these children that are passing away before their time would have been able to contribute to Sierra Leone in their futures had they been afforded the chance at a healthy and brilliant life.”
On August 8, 2011 the members of YWC will travel from Freetown to Sierra Leonean province of Bo to distribute the birthing kits and incentive packages personally. While in Bo, two seminars will be conducted with the aid of various prominent doctors of Sierra Leone to edify mothers who are lactating and/or have children under the age of five about the verities of maternal health care.
