Cluff Gold provides Le100m educational support to Sierra Leone

Cluff Gold Mining Company with operations in Baomahun village Southern Sierra Leone has provided (Le100m) one hundred million Leones towards the educational sector for seven secondary schools.

The company is currently supporting 125 secondary school pupils with a scholarship scheme in seven schools in the Valunia Chiefdom Bo District for smart pupils whose parents can’t afford to pay school fees and other charges due to poverty.

The Country Manager of Cluff Gold Alusine Jalloh said the Company believes in behaving responsibly with maximum consideration towards the local communities in which we work and the people who live in them.

The company strives to understand local needs so as to create sustainable initiatives that bring benefits to the people and the communities and education was one the key areas the people asked for assistance.

“We have supported the rehabilitation of schools and school feeding programs for over 2000 disadvantaged primary school kids in Baomahun and its surroundings.” Mr. Jalloh went on…

He said Cluff Gold is committed and determined to assist communities within their operational areas with strong collaboration with the government, traditional chiefs, local councils, land owners   and beneficiaries.

Hon Paul Kamara of Constituency 77 in Bo District is the pioneer of the education project funded by Cluff Gold in the Valunia Chiefdom for seven secondary schools.

“We spent (Le68m) sixty eight million Leones to buy subject text and note books, the scholarship recipients are also provided with two school uniforms and yearly tuition fees, Says Hon Kamara.

According to Hon Kamara the scholarship scheme will ease the financial burden on poor parents with brilliant children to get access to education.

He stated that school authorities have put in place strict procedures for the scholarship recipients so as to ensure transparency and accountability creating opportunities for genuine needy children.

“We give account for any penny spent on the education project with Cluff Gold,” Hon Paul Kamara dismissing allegations that he is benefiting personally.

Hon. Kamara said Cluff Gold has funded local community projects like provision of safe drinking water, improving health care delivery   rehabilitation of rural schools and libraries.

The company is also funding an ongoing road project between Mongere and Baomahun village which was in the past deplorable and a death trap for motorist and drivers, Hon. Kamara said “the road connects villages with urban areas bringing relief for residents,” 

Cluff Gold is a gold developer -producer with producing asset in Burkina Faso a development project in Sierra Leone and asset in Cote d’Ivoire. The Baomahun project has a potential to contribute to 150,000oz of gold per year with significant exploration upside strike.
