PPRC Chairman and Commissioners take oath of office

FREETOWN: The newly appointed Chairman and Commissioners of the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) have Friday 20th May 2011, subscribed to oaths of office in front of President Ernest Bai Koroma during a swearing in ceremony held State House.

Introducing the Chairman and Commissioners to the President Secretary to President Osho Coker said the Chairman and Commissioners have gone through Parliamentary approval.

After administering the oath of office to them, President Koroma congratulated them and referred to them as now full members of the PPRC.

He said the country is going through a transformation process and that more emphasis should be put on infrastructure and the economy. He implored them to ensure a level playing ground and good relationship between political parties.

“Sierra Leone is now a leading democratic country in Africa and it must be sustained. Political parties must be friendly and brotherly, ensuring political tolerance as we are in a process of organizing a Sierra Leonean conference, where all shade of voices will be heard,” President Koroma said.

He promised government’s support and asked of them to play a leading role in the coming national conference and wished them the very best during their tenure of office.

Giving the vote of thanks PPRC Chairman Justice Hon. S. A. Ademous thanked President Koroma for the honor to serve their country and promised that they would do all in their best to succeed.

The Commissioners are Alhaji Muctarr B. Williams, Chukwu Emeka Taylor, Dr. Christiana Thorpe, A John as Registrar and Mariama Sesay Kallay as Secretary.

In another engagement President Koroma has invited members of the Sierra Leone Labour Congress to a consultative meeting at State House, with regards the recent change of prices in fuel due to the metric system change. 

He assured them that this is just the initial one as the consultative meeting will continue.
