Under the eye of its coach Peter Kirsten, half brother of former India coach Gary Kirsten, his side defended a modest total of 127-8 in a dramatic finish as Tanzania scored just 125-6 off 20 overs.
This put Sierra Leone back in contention for promotion to Africa’s top division, after it had also won a dramatic game against Malawi in the morning by just four runs!
In other matches, Tanzania defeated Mozambique in the morning session by five wickets, while Swaziland overcame promoted Rwanda by six wickets.
In other matches, Botswana continued its good form with a 12-run win over Nigeria, in a repeat of last week’s Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 7 clash.
In the final game of the day, Mozambique could only make 83 all out against Swaziland, which its opponents reached for the loss of two wickets with 7.2 overs remaining.
