AWOL-UK outline plans… says it is forward looking

All Walks of Life UK (AWOL-UK) – a respectful charitable organization in the Diaspora was initiated in May of 2009. Though based in the United Kingdom, it is aiming at complementing the efforts of the government and its respective development partners on issues promoting the economic, political and social status of Sierra Leone.

“Our dream is to see Sierra Leone develop just as other countries in the world,” words as said by the President of AWOL-UK, Alfred Parker Jnr.

It is disclosed to this press some AWOL-UK members are in Sierra Leone to join others to celebrate the country’s independence anniversary.

That they include the Secretary General Adams Bangura, Assistant Secretary General Mohamed Bollo Jalloh, Mamadu Juma Bah, Ishmael Mello and Jariatu Bahjur.

“The team is also engaged on a fact finding mission to identify possible areas of assistance,” he said.

President Parker told Sierra Express Media that AWOL-UK has a membership of about 25.

He however disclosed that membership is open to all irrespective of nationality.

Outlining achievements, he said his organization was at the fore in showcasing Sierra Leone in London in raising the awareness of individuals on the celebration of its golden independence jubilee.

“AWOL’s participation in the sensitization of persons on the celebration of Sierra Leone’s independence was impressive and assuring,” Parker said, adding that the turnout for the independence celebration is a clear indication that AWOL-UK is a force to consider.

It is revealed though that AWOL-UK has identified female inmates serving sentences at Central Prison as a possible area to lend a hand.

He assured that his organization will also render support to the Paul School for the Blind in Bo south of Sierra Leone.

It is observed that AWOL-UK is in financial constraints given that its only source of funding is limited to membership registrations and monthly subscriptions.

Parker however assured Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad that his organization has the line of attack to network with respective charitable organizations and social functions to enable source out funds.

He said AWOL-UK will be organizing its award night on the 25th June this year at the prestigious Light House, 262-274 Camberwell Road London.

He furthered that proceeds from the award will be used on towards charitable ventures.
