Corrupt Pastor Dragged to Court
Rev. Sylvanus Dumbuya Pastor, Principal and District Superintendent of the New Harvest Ministries formally known as New Life Service at Looking Town Kissy-Freetown has been dragged to court by the General Overseer and Head of Mission Rev. S.E.B Johnson who is also President of the Evangelical Fellowship in Sierra Leone for fraudulently converting the Ministry properties to his own.
According to the general overseer and head of mission, Rev. Sylvanus was sent to the Milton Margai of Education and Technology for an HTC secondary by the Church and that upon graduation he was taken to Nigeria for further studies in Theology in one of the renowned Theological Colleges in Nigeria and ended up with a BA in Theology; all been financed by the Ministry; General Overseer and Head of Mission noted.
Upon return, Rev. Sylvanus was made Pastor, Head Teacher of the School belonging to the Mission and District Superintendent of the New Harvest Ministries. A progress report of the Ministry made privy to Sierra Express and according to the General Overseer indicates that Rev. Sylvanus Dumbuya took to unilaterally run the Mission, over loaded with too many responsibilities that he at a point proved to be ineffective. Because of this, according to Overseer Johnson, it was decided at the Ministry’s Annual General Conference that he (Rev. Sylvanus) be withdrawn from the position of District Superintendent and be left as head of the school.
Since then according to the General Overseer, Rev. Sylvanus Dumbuya stopped sending the usual monthly reports for which he was suspended after a year for insubordination until another General Conference decision was taken that terminated as head of the Mission School.
Reports say that it was after this development that Rev. Sylvanus resorted to inciting the congregation against the General Overseer and the head of mission Rev. Johnson. Developments are that Rev. Dumbuya is said be now claiming headship of the Ministry and School at Looking Town Kissy.
Edward Bailor, Education Coordinator of the New Harvest Ministry stated in an interview with Sierra Express that since 2008/2009 academic year the School Head Master Rev. Dumbuya refused to give account of financial dispensations at the school adding that even one of the school teachers Dauda Sesay was beaten up by alleged hired thugs of Rev. Dumbuya.
When contacted Rev. Dumbuya confidently responded that he is the new owner of the school and the church. He further promised to furnish Sierra Express with documentary proof that he owns the said mission. He however denied the allegation of hiring thugs to beat one of the school teachers Dauda Sesay.
Documentary evidence is available with the Sierra Express Media where Rev. Sylvanus Dumbuya took oath as an intercessor of the New Harvest Ministry not the owner as he claimed in an interview with this media. Other documents in our possession also show that Rev. Sylvanus Dumbuya was being paid with a voucher by the General Overseer SEM Johnson as Head Teacher of the School; not as Proprietor.
