Paying money to ‘boot out’ Umaru Fofana!
In Kenema, and on that faithful day of Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) elections, especially so, Presidential, rumors have it that politicians of the ruling APC party dished out money to journalists In agreement to having them vote against Umaru Fofana.
Though unwittingly planned, the bulk of journalists resolved voting Umaru Fofana for the second time because he did what he promised he would do.
Conversely, challenger Mustapha Sesay is as all right as President Umaru Fofana.
He is hard working and has worked all his days for the good of SLAJ.
Mentions are in archives that tells what role Mustapha Sesay has played while serving as SLAJ’s assistant secretary general and secretary general respectively.
Again, allow me to hit my point. It is a fact that SLAJ has grown from a tiny and unorganized association to one that is professionally and internationally recognized.
Paying money to journalists because politicians want them vote against a candidate they don’t like, means unwittingly abundantly wastefully surrendering money to those that desperately look out for it.
No wonder Kenema was like a supermarket; corners, highways and off roads, accommodating journalists as they convivially drank beer, stouts, energy and other drinks.
All I am sure I know is that Sierra Leone’s forward looking leader, President and Head of State, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, heartily supported SLAJ with an acceptable sum ahead of the past biennial meeting in Kenema.
Well, if indeed politicians had lavished colossal amounts to journalists to lure them to vote against the erudite, intellectual, cool and calculated, unbeatable and of course, talented Umaru Fofana, it is, but saddened that ‘coppor’ money don’t work in SLAJ elections.
May I respectfully and readably refer you to the cartoon as shown below… (click on image to view larger)
On the left hand corner is SLPP Poo & We, who gleefully laughs by all accounts, politicians that lavished ‘dons’ money to journalists did not have Umaru rooted from the Presidency of SLAJ.
On the bottom of the cartoon is a concern citizen, if not a veteran journalist, questioning politicians attempt to influence SLAJ’s cherished elections.
Of course, in the middle of the cartoon are two big ‘allyjos’ Prezo BBC and VP Global, who joyously celebrates victory.
But disappointingly, the man in the coat is somewhat not identical at all – we’ll find out who that is.
So could attitudes of politicians contribute to the professed attitudinal and behavioral change as was proclaimed by no less a person but the man in the ‘coat’?
