Egyptian Ambassador Lauds President Ernest Koroma

The newly appointed Egyptian Ambassador to Sierra Leone His Excellency Jamal Tawfik Abd-allah on Friday 23rd September at the Egyptian Embassy at Wilkinson Road intimated journalists about his mission to Sierra Leone as ambassador to the country.

Speaking to journalists, Ambassador Tawfik disclosed that Ernest Koroma amongst the African Leaders he admires and has profound respect for because of his leadership qualities and charismatic character in handling issues. The ambassador made this statement as a result of President Koroma’s significant contribution during the just concluded United Nation Summit. He noted that this prominence statement has made him to have respect and confidence in the leadership of president Koroma.

The ambassador added that his coming to serve in Sierra Leone is something to write home about as he is very happy to work with the Sierra Leone government. He noted that a few days after his arrival in Sierra Leone, he visited President Ernest Koroma at his State House office where he presented his credentials, the response he got from the president gave him the impression that his stay in Sierra Leone will enhance a good working relationship between his government and the Sierra Leone government in order with the aim of strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

He added that, President Koroma has a good vision for his country and that his agenda for change is a manifestation of the will to transform Sierra Leone to a better and developed country. The ambassador related that Egypt was the first Middle East-African country that started advocating for the independence of African countries and his country was the first to establish a diplomatic relationship in Sierra Leone and other African countries respectively. Mr. Tawfik mentioned that Sierra Leone amongst other countries has played a pivotal role in maintaining international peace and security in the world especially in the African Sub-Region in the past few years.

He maintained that, his country is always ready to work with African countries particularly Sierra Leone as the two countries have contributed greatly in international forum; he however added that in order to complement the work of his predecessor, he has two main mission he will be embarking on to show his countries commitment to work with the Sierra Leone. First he said is capacity building programmes and second; relief contingency assistance. He added that his predecessor engaged in capacity building whereby Sierra Leone students were given scholarship to study courses like agriculture, nursing, industrial work and engineering. He stated that expert Egyptians are working in Sierra Leone like their Egyptian doctors, engineers, and teachers.
