SLFA write-off Minister Order

It could be recalled that the Sports Minister, Paul Kamara recently sent a letter to the FA through it Ministry sign by the permanent Secretary that the SLFA most regularise their status with a deadline date 14 January.

PRO Sesay pointed out that if it had come from a member of the SLFA through the right procedures, the executive should have considered it and take it to congress for discussion. But not from the Sports Minister, he told Sierraleonefootball.com

He added: “This is about protecting the SLFA constitution.”

The minister also asked the SLFA to look into their Acting General Secretary Abdul Rahman Swarray who has two other jobs as university lecturer and CAF education officer in the SLFA.

The Minister’s letter states point out it’s against the employments laws of Sierra Leone for Swarray to be receiving salary from the Sierra Leone consolidation funds for his job as a university lecturer whilst having two other paid up jobs.

On this issue, the SLFA executive has resolved to tell the minister that it’s not true that Swarray’s salary as a university lecturer is coming from the Sierra Leone consolidation funds and therefore he has not done anything wrong by getting other paid up jobs.

The Minister also wanted an explanation on the legality of the setting up of a board to run the SLFA Premier League.

Sesay talking to the Sierraleonefootball.com said: “the decision to set up a board with the mandate to run the Premier League was taken in the 2008 SLFA Congress. So the answer is, the board is legal and this also will be communicated to the minister.

This is incontestable that the Minister will not welcome this news.
