Olangba Khanu is at it again

In a long article in the African Champion edition of Tuesday October 20, he has gone in for Dr. Sama Banya in the same way that the newspaper’s proprietor used to attack me. It was often sparse facts interlaced with lies and speculation.

Orlangba begins with the oft repeated question as to whether I am 79 or 89? Does it really matter as long as I still do a one hour brisk exercise at five every morning or that I am often seeing running my errands ON FOOT in the main business district of the city? Does it not bother him that at his suggested 89, I still look ten years younger than he? But a quick glance at what he has written. Yes, I was 10 years and six months old at Christmas 1940 and just been promoted to standard three in the Bo School.

I found late John Kallon already attending the Methodist Primary school when I entered there for the first time some time in 1937. His late father Pa AJM Kallon, later Chief Kallon was the head teacher. John later met me in Bo School. Late Justice Kutubu was in Bunumbu as the ward of late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anthont of Union College. He entered Bo School in 1947 when I was already in Form four.

I left both John Kallon and Sheku Kutubu in Bo School when I came down to the Prince of Wales school. I entered Bristol University at the age of 24, two years after when most British Medical students would have graduated. What do the above facts have to do with age? Would I have been considered to be of the same age as the British students who entered the University with me when they were barely 17?

I shall respond (I’ll never tire of doing so because I STATE FACTS) to his confused statements of my political activities which are really well known and a far cry from his imaginations would suggest. But for now I would like Orlangba to realize that he is a better minister than a journalist, so keep to the former. More anon.
