Germany Elects APC Chairman

After preliminary discussions to strengthen the party and establish additional chapters across the Federal Republic of Germany, the All Peoples Congress (APC), has elected an interim Chairman in Berlin.

The Chairman, Rev. Pastor Peter Sorie Mansaray (in photo), who is also a political scientist, was elected unopposed, on Saturday, December 4.

Addressing APC members before the elections, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Germany, Jongopie S. Stevens congratulated the steering committee, for their tireless efforts in ensuring the establishment of an APC chapter in Berlin.

He expressed delight over the expansion of the party across Germany, and said the occasion was an indication of the people’s commitment to the APC.

Ambassador Stevens encouraged his party members to work harmoniously, in line with the morals of the party. “We should commit ourselves to the APC, and I hope that you will work together with other chapters in Germany for unity and progress,” he pleaded.

Jongopie said the need for a national executive in Germany is imminent, especially, when the party’s strength and membership has increased in almost all parts of the country. “We will organise a convention, involving all the chapters in Germany, to elect a national executive.”

While encouraging his party members to work hard and contribute to the country’s social and economic growth, Ambassador Stevens highlighted the achievements his government has made within three years. They include, amongst others, improvement in the energy sector, health, agriculture and works. “APC is a party with infrastructural development,” he stated.

He said his party took over the mantle of leadership when the country’s infrastructure was in a total mess, adding that, his government under the leadership of the Chief Executive would continue to undertake more development projects in the country.

Ambassador Stevens further pledged his support and loyalty to the APC, and called on all Sierra Leoneans to work in the interest of their country.

In his remarks, the elected Chairman, Rev. Pastor Peter Sorie Mansaray, thanked his party cohorts for the confidence imposed on him, and assured them of working diligently towards accelerating the party’s growth.

“Today is an historic event. And I want to thank especially our Ambassador for his support in making this occasion a success. I will do my best to improve the party and work towards the expectations of all,” Pastor Mansaray noted.

He has promised to use his long serving experience in political science, and other related activities, to recruit more members within the party. “A seed has been planted, and it is my duty to make sure that the seed germinate,” he emphasised.

Within his one-year mandate, the APC chief stressed the need to develop a working plan, with rules and regulations that would be consistent with the national party in Freetown.

Pastor called for the cooperation of all members to ensure a successful job during his tenure of office.“We should work as a team. And I believe with your support, I will take this party to a higher height.”

Anthony Peter Sahr Senesie gave the vote of thanks.
